VIDEO: A current and alum parent talks Notre Dame

“Everyone here supports that mission statement.”

Julie Chow-Wah has been a major presence on the Notre Dame campus for many years. She is both an alum parent and current parent and has played an out-sized role in the middle-division’s annual International Day, which for this school year is planned again for March.

She is looking forward once again to the event and says there could be some changes. “I’d like to perhaps change the name from International Day to maybe World Cultures Day,” she said recently. “I think that name is more indicative of what the kids go through and learn about on the day.”

We recently sat down with Chow-Wah to discuss the upcoming International Day, but we also took the opportunity to talk with her about what NDPMA has meant to her and her family.

We specifically asked what she might tell parents who may be considering sending their children to Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy.

Among the things she said about NDPMA is that it’s like a “home away from home" for her children as well as a place where they learn what it means to be a good Christian person.

“Learning to live their lives as good Christian people is truly important,” she said during our short conversation. “And it’s what we as parents want for our kids.”

The short video below is the result of that conversation. Enjoy!
