Notre Dame Prep releases 2019 football schedule

Notre Dame’s athletic department today released the 2019 schedule for the school's varsity football team and it looks to be season with a number of exciting and challenging games for the Fighting Irish.

A visit by Linden High School opens the regular season on August 29 and the game should be a tight one. The Eagles struggled with numerous key injuries last season and finished 4-5 overall, but they play in the always tough Flint Metro League, which also features Fenton, Flushing and Brandon among schools that typically go deep each year in the playoffs.

Irish head coach Pat Fox weighs in on the upcoming season.

"We were young in 2018 and will bring back eight starters on offense and six on defense," said Fox, who was inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in March. "We still will be quite young considering that last year we started five tenth graders. I am also very excited about playing one of our longtime rivals, Divine Child, this season. Plus, our schedule includes a really talented Linden club as well."

The Irish finished their 2018 campaign 4-5.
