International Day celebrates diversity at NDPMA

The Notre Dame Marist Academy International Day, an annual celebration of the world and its diversity of inhabitants, is scheduled for March 1, 2017.

The day is hosted and organized by the international parents and friends within the NDMA community in partnership with the Parents Club and the staff of the middle division. Field trips are usually part of the day’s activities as well.

According to the organizers, International Day was designed to promote the multicultural mosaic of the Notre Dame community and creates harmony between different cultures through an event of mutual respect and cooperation. They said this multicultural celebration provided a unique learning opportunity for students who experienced "the spirit of tolerance and respect as they enjoyed international celebration dances and entertainment, culinary delicacies, and the rich and varied traditions and heritage of the many cultures that make the Notre Dame Marist Academy community their home."

Julie Chow-Wah, an alum parent and current parent at Notre Dame, has been instrumental in organizing the middle division's annual International Day, which is held typically each spring. In the video below, Chow-Wah discusses the reasons why International Day plays such an important role in the education of internationally minded young men and women.
