Four NDP Students Selected For Legion and Auxiliary State Programs

Brandon Dailey Zachary Goldasich Sarah Ebben Mara MacLean

Four Notre Dame Prep students—two boys and two girls who will be seniors next school year—have been chosen to attend programs sponsored by the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary that will provide "hands-on" training in city, county and state government.

Beginning next week, Brandon Dailey, Zachary Goldasich, Sarah Ebben and Mara MacLean will begin the week-long program where they will simulate a run for office, learn public speaking, create and enforce laws and actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government.

High school juniors are selected for this program by local American Legion Posts and in most cases, expenses associated with attending are paid by a sponsoring American Legion Post, a local business or another community-based organization.

Final selection of the "delegates" are based on an interest in government as well as having "the important qualities of leadership, character, honesty, moral values, cooperation and scholarship," according to the American Legion. Attendees in Michigan can potentially earn scholarships or admission preference at certain universities.

Goldasich and Dailey will be at the American Legion State program at Northwood University June 16-22, and Ebben and MacLean will be at Michigan State University.
