Notre Dame to live stream commencement

New broadcast installation also will allow for remote viewing of school sports occurring in gymnasium and on Kozyra Alumni Field.

Notre Dame Prep's upcoming graduation ceremonies on Sunday will be live streamed, according to the school's athletic department. Aaron Crouse, NDPMA's assistant athletic director, said the school has recently completed the installation of innovative and unique technology to broadcast its games in NDPMA’s main gymnasium and stadium on the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s (MHSAA) NFHS Network.

“Many of our games will be broadcast using our new Pixellot camera system,” Crouse said. “In fact, last night, we broadcast live the girl's lacrosse pre-regional game versus Cranbrook, which is now available for replay."

Non-athletic events held at Notre Dame's campus, such as graduation and other major school events, will be live-streamed free of charge. Athletic contests will be available with a paid subscription through the NFHS Network. In either case, those interested in the service will have to create an account as follows:

1. Go to www.nfhsnetwork.com.

2. Click "SIGN IN" in the upper right corner.

3. Click "SIGN UP FOR FREE" at the bottom of the sign in box (for graduation and other non-athletic events that may be available).

4. Enter your name, email address and a password of your choosing.

5. At the top of the next screen, search for Notre Dame Preparatory School, Pontiac, Michigan.

Upcoming events will be listed as well as previously streamed events, which will be in the On Demand section on the page.

"With the Pixellot system, we are now able to live stream games on the NFHS network without any manpower," Crouse said. "The system uses computer-vision technology to seamlessly follow the actions and capture and produce games without the need for a video crew. Game footage is automatically streamed to the portal, where it can be watched live or on demand.”

He said the system’s software tracks the action, pans and zooms, and automatically captures audio from the gym or field, and even puts the score on the screen.

“This Pixellot system’s hardware and software were funded through the NDPMA Booster Club, and installation has been generously donated by a school parent,” Crouse said. "We’re very excited about this, as we’ll be one of only a few schools in the area with this cool, new technology.”
