Notre Dame Prep sophomores Ella Holbert and MiKayla MacDonald, and freshman Sarah McIntosh were recognized by Michigan's Future Problem Solving Program (FPSP) in an event held in Lansing on Sunday. FPSP is affiliated with Future Problem Solving Program International, a nonprofit educational corporation administering creative problem-solving activities for students in grades K-12.
In the March 30 Lansing event, Holbert and MacDonald earned honors in the "scenario writing" competition, which involves writing a short story set at least 20 years in the future. McIntosh wrote a six-step individual booklet on the topic of land transportation and was recognized with a medal as a state semifinalist in the middle division.
MacDonald finished as a round-3 semifinalist in the senior division and Holbert was the top finisher in the state. Holbert's finish means that she has now qualified for the international competition for scenario writing and will represent Michigan and Notre Dame at the Future Problem Solving Program International event held June 12-15 on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
