Spring choir concert to feature salute to armed forces

choir-edit_815pxNotre Dame’s choir program wraps up a busy concert season tonight with a program that will feature the music of Broadway as well as a salute to members of the armed forces.

According to Dave Fazzini, director of choirs at Notre Dame, the first section of the concert, which begins at 7 p.m. in the cafetorium, will be done in a collage style where various large groups and solos will perform their favorite music from Broadway.

“The show will end with four selections in honor of our current and veteran members of the armed services,” Fazzini said. “Also, members of the armed services will be given special seating tonight and are encouraged to wear clothing that signifies their service — whether it’s dress blues or simply a hat. Our evening will close with a special medley called Salute to the Armed Forces and the Battle Hymn of the Republic."

Fazzini added that many of the patriotic selections tonight will be sung by a special group of students who will be in Hawaii on July 4 to participate in the “Salute to Valor Music Festival,” which will be held on the Battleship Missouri Memorial on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor.

Tonight’s  concert will take place in the NDPMA cafetorium at 7 p.m. It is estimated to be about two hours in length.
