The 2014 edition of Notre Dame’s softball team poses on the U-M’s Alumni Field in Ann Arbor after falling to Ladywood in an MHSAA quarterfinal game on June 10. The Fighting Irish finished the season 33-8-1.
Blazer pitcher Rozlyn Price kept the Irish batters off balance for most of the game as Notre Dame really only threatened twice. In the opening frame, the Irish loaded the bases with only one out but failed to push a run across as Price induced a strikeout and a pop out to end the threat. The Irish would not threaten again until the 5th inning when Madison Fox got a two-out single and then catcher Hanna Bullard blasted a double into the left-center gap to bring home Prep’s only run of the game. Notre Dame catcher Bullard also threw out the speedy Christina Meyer (the only player to attempt to steal during the game) on a great throw down to shortstop Madison Fox in the sixth inning. Roz Price picked up the win on a two hitter, striking out nine, walking two and hitting one batter.
