One of the Largest Group of NDP Scholars Honored at Academic Awards Convocation

At the Notre Dame Preparatory School's 20th Academic Awards Convocation and National Honor Society Induction held last night at the school's Pontiac campus, one of the largest group of student scholars in NDP history was honored for their academic achievement.

A big crowd of parents, grandparents and friends witnessed Notre Dame's seniors, juniors and sophomores receive honors for academic achievement. Many also were inducted into this year's edition of the National Honor Society, Rev. Joseph C. Hindelang, s.m., Chapter.

In a note published before the ceremony last night, Fr. Hindelang congratulated the students:

Congratulations!

On behalf of the Marist Fathers, faculty, staff and administration I want to congratulate all of those honored tonight at this Academic Awards Convocation! Your family and your school want to see you succeed academically; through your dedication you have shown that you are willing to work hard to learn and to achieve the awards being presented tonight.

Congratulations also to those who have chosen to join and to fulfill the requirements of the National Honor Society! Our Catholic school, as well as the NHS, call you not only to be scholars but to be people of good character who serve others and are willing to take on roles of leadership.

Students and faculty have built a strong academic tradition at Notre Dame Prep and Marist Academy. Teachers are primarily concerned with the growth and success of our students which is why they chose this vocation. Students at NOPMA see it as a good thing to challenge themselves and to do their best. As students and staff reach beyond what is easy, they create a learning environment where it is good for everyone to achieve more than they thought possible.

Parents and families, you have sent your daughters and sons to a great Catholic school. You have supported your students in their studies and it is good that you are here to celebrate their successes.

Honored students of NDPMA, your hard work, focus, time management and study skills have brought you the academic recognition that you receive this evening. Far more important than these honors or the grades that you earn, is the knowledge and maturity that you are acquiring along the way. Be lifelong learners and people of integrity! While the effort is yours, take time tonight, and frequently, to thank others who have a part in your achievements: God who blesses you abundantly, your parents who support you, and your teachers who foster learning within you.

Fr. Joe Hindelang, s.m.
Principal
