Members of Notre Dame Prep's Killer Bees robotics team joined members of five other teams from Michigan in Lansing on Tuesday to help celebrate the signing of a funding bill for the state's K-12 schools, community colleges and universities. The bill also included $2 million for next year's FIRST Robotics program in Michigan.
The Bees' robot was among others on hand in the state Capitol building that put on a demonstration for Gov. Rick Snyder and other government officials.
"I think this is the first time we've had multiple robotic demonstrations in the Capitol, so congratulations to the FIRST Robotics teams." Snyder said.
Notre Dame's robotic team earned a state championship in April after which they traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, for the world competition. It was the second time in four years (2011) that the Bees earned a state championship.
