Notre Dame’s Great Give brings in $13K plus

In the recently completed Thanksgiving edition of "The Great Give," the Notre Dame community of students, parents, faculty and staff collected food baskets and more than $13,000, all of which will benefit Marist missions and a number of local charities, including the Christ Child House, Covenant House Michigan and Bound Together Pontiac, which provides no cost, individualized reading, writing, mathematics tutoring, art and cooking four days per week to Pontiac elementary school students.

According to Della Lawrence from NDPMA's Campus Ministry department, the middle division also is planning to collect clothing, toys, etc., for the Baldwin Center after Thanksgiving with a focus on Christmas.

"A big thank you to our entire community," Lawrence said. "What we do makes a large impact on our neighbors in and around Pontiac."

"The South Oakland Shelter helps homeless people get job training as they try to reincorporate themselves back into the community," said Notre Dame senior Lauren Neiheisel. "We know these people are just trying to get back on their feet and it's great that we can help make that happen."
