“Championship Saturday” in the Catholic High School League spring season is a time all too familiar to the Notre Dame tennis and lacrosse programs. The girl’s tennis team heads to the Academy of the Sacred Heart this weekend (starting at 9 a.m.) seeking their eighth CHSL championship overall. The team’s seven league titles is the second-most among all Notre Dame teams, trailing only boys lacrosse.
The boys and girls lacrosse teams will both be in action at Notre Dame Prep on Saturday. The girls will take on the winner of Livonia Ladywood/Warren Regina at 1 p.m., while the boys are set to face off with Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard at 5 p.m. Boys lacrosse will be playing in their eighth consecutive CHSL title game and are going for their ninth CHSL championship overall, with victories in 2000, 2001, 2008-2011, 2013, and 2014. Meanwhile, the girls now have appeared in all 10 CHSL title games since the division was established and will be seeking their fifth title after taking the league for four straight years (2009-2012).
