The 2016 edition of the Notre Dame ski team is off to an excellent start this season with wins by both the boys and girls teams over Rochester High School. According to Head Coach John Deibel, the team has trained very hard in preparation for the 2016 race season and it appears that so far that training has paid off for them.

Last weekend, the Notre Dame team traveled to the Otsego Ski Club near Gaylord in order to take advantage of the better ski conditions in northern Michigan.

“They trained morning to evening, both Saturday and Sunday and made great progress,” Deibel said.

This year, Notre Dame’s team is led by senior captains Clark Meek, Lily McLean, Julia Warsecke and junior captain Will Grubbs, each providing focus and leadership toward reaching the MHSAA state championship ski meet, Deibel said.

“The team has qualified a boys or girls team in 13 of the past 14 years and always has had individual qualifers represented at the finals,” he added. "And we expect no less from this year’s Notre Dame Prep ski team!”
