Notre Dame Prep senior Mitchell Nouhan earned one of only 20 honors recital awards at the 44th Annual Bach Festival sponsored by the Ann Arbor Bach Association and Schoolcraft College. He received the accolades after performing Johann Sebastian Bach's "Partita No. 1 in B Flat Major, Prelude and Gigue, BWV 825" on classical piano at the competition, which was held December 13 at Schoolcraft.
Nouhan has been playing classical piano and competing in music festivals for 11 years. He was up against many others in his age group, all of whom were required to completely memorize authentic solo works by J.S. Bach. The Ann Arbor Bach Association promotes classical and baroque music education and helps provide motivation for young people to learn classical music.
