Notre Dame Prep volleyball swept Marysville in straight sets 25-17, 25-17, 26-24, tonight to win its third straight and eighth overall regional title.
The Fighting Irish (56-5) stymied the Marysville offense, which was led by All American Ally Bastianelli, for most of the night while NDP's Katherine Carlson and crew tallied up a total of 54 kills.
Ms. Volleyball finalist Carlson led the Irish with 21 kills and seven points, including a couple of aces and 18 digs. Caitlin Fitzgerald added 10 kills of her own. Erica Schwegman recorded eight kills. Ashley Knutson served up six points, assisted on 22 kills and had 16 digs. Bella Bucchi added nine points and seven digs.
Emma Kowalkowski was stellar on defense with 18 digs and 18 service receptions, and scored seven points.
The Irish now advance to the quarterfinal round of play where they will take on the Falcons of Divine Child Tuesday at Clawson High School.
