New Notre Dame Prep dance coach Jenna Helinski studied with famed choreographers Sonya Tayeh, Tovaris Wilson, Erica Sobol, Tokyo and Bobby Newberry.

PONTIAC, Mich. — Pontiac Notre Dame Preparatory School announced today that it has hired Jenna Helinski as head varsity dance coach, effective immediately. Helinski replaces Allison Kuptz, who left the program to further pursue her university education.

With more than seven years of professional dance coaching and instruction experience, Helinski comes to Notre Dame from Shanon’s Dance Academy in Keego Harbor, Mich., where she serves as instructor of ballet, tap, jazz, beginner hip hop and teen hip hop.

She began her instruction and coaching career at Premiere Plus Dance and Recreation, serving the Troy, Madison Heights, Royal Oak, West Bloomfield, Clawson and Berkley communities, where she taught a dance curriculum for pre-school to intermediate teens. She also was a dance instructor at Get Spun Dance Studio in Southfield, Mich.

Helinski holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Oakland University and studied dance professionally at Premiere Dance Studio in Madison Heights and the Tina Marie School of Dance, with locations in Warren and Sterling Heights. She studied contemporary, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and jazz funk at the Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, Calif., where she worked with choreographers Sonya Tayeh, Tovaris Wilson, Erica Sobol, Tokyo and Bobby Newberry.
