Notre Dame names varsity boys lacrosse coach

The athletic department of Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy announced today that John Sennett has been named head varsity boys lacrosse coach, effective immediately.

“We’re very happy to welcome someone like John on staff here,” said Betty Wroubel, athletic director and assistant principal at NDPMA. “He’s got great credentials as both a coach and player and we look forward to him taking over our boys program and being a good Catholic role model for the team.”

Sennett comes to Notre Dame from Rochester High School where he had been the assistant varsity coach since 2015. Prior to that, he coached the Birmingham-based Michigan Warriors for four years and in 2008 served as the head junior-varsity coach at DeSmet Jesuit High School in St. Louis, Missouri.

A member of the Brother Rice High School lacrosse team that won two state championships and recorded only three losses in four years, Sennett went on to play at the next level at Fontbonne University in St. Louis and later at Western Michigan University where he served as team captain during the 2010 season.

Sennett currently is a resident of Clawson, Mich., and works at Elite Fire Safety in Southfield, Mich. He also serves as a firefighter in the Clawson Fire Department.
