New Notre Dame boys golf coach Tom Gillis holds the trophy after winning the Nationwide Tour Players Cup at the Pete Dye Golf Club in 2009 in West Virginia.
Gillis was a member of the PGA Tour for eight years and the European Tour for five years.
Gillis, who currently has two children in Notre Dame’s lower division, has competed in 28 countries and earned 15 professional career wins on multiple tours. He was a member of the PGA Tour for eight years and the European Tour for five years and is currently on the ballot to be elected into the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame.
Also announced today, Jennifer Gillis, Tom’s wife, will be an assistant coach for the boys team. Jenny Gillis holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering and played collegiate golf at Oakland University. She also was an assistant coach for the OU women and men’s programs for two years.
