This past weekend, five members of the NDP Symphony Band participated in an Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District 4 Honors Bands event held at Clarkston High School.
“Honors Bands” is a means of recognizing the achievement of outstanding musicians in high schools all over district 4. The event saw over 200 students from twenty one schools participating as part of the Symphonic, Concert, or Jazz Bands.
“Building bridges between other band programs is a great way to make music with students from other schools,” said Joe Martin, Notre Dame’s band director. “Our students and the others in attendance performed top-quality repertoire under the direction of outstanding college guest conductors.”
Martin said the conductors this year at MSBOA were from Grand Valley State University, Eastern Michigan University and Abilene Christian University in Texas.
