Katelyn Kozole, an eighth grader in Notre Dame's middle division, recently qualified for the U14 USSA Rocky/Central Region Junior Ski Championship to be held in Winter Park, Colo. She earned the berth by being a top finisher at the Mid-West Championships, held February 17-22, in Marquette, Mich.
Kozole will be competing as an individual skier and as part of the Central USSA team in four events during the week-long race event, which is held in Winter Park March 17-22.
The top 90 girl skiers who qualified compete in super G, giant slalom, slalom and a Kombi. Kozole belongs to Pinnacle Racing ski team, a non-profit educational alpine ski racing program based in southeast Michigan. She has been in training for a year to compete on this national stage.
