The NFHS Coaches Association announced that Notre Dame Prep competitive cheer coach Beth Campbell has been selected to receive the 2014 Coach of the Year award at the state level for Girls Spirit. The NFHS Coaches Association is the official national coaches association of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). The NFHS recognizes coaches at the state, sectional and national level.
According to NDPMA athletic director Betty Wroubel, it’s a “great honor” for Campbell. “Her coaches association, the Competitive Cheer Coaches Association of Michigan (CCCAM), selected her for the state award and then nominated her for the NFHS award,” Wroubel said.
Campbell, who also serves as the school's director of alumni relations, took the Fighting Irish to a state championship last year and this year’s team won its fifth straight competition Saturday with a season-high score of 765.56.
A statement released by NFHS on Campbell said: “Your contributions on behalf of high school athletics are deserving of our appreciation. Congratulations on being selected to represent all the deserving coaches from your state. Thank you for your many contributions to the youth of this country.”
