Annual event welcomed by students, parents and university representatives.
More than 600 students from Notre Dame Prep and seven other area high schools attended Notre Dame’s annual College Fair on March 28 in the school’s gymnasium.
According to Vlado Salic, director of counseling for Notre Dame, more than 85 colleges and universities, including a number of them from outside the United States, were on hand to talk to eager students.
“It was another successful college fair,” Salic said. "We had about 15 more colleges than in 2017 participate in this year's fair. It was a great opportunity for our students and some parents to get to meet some of the college admissions representatives who will soon be making admission decisions on student applications. We even had reps from colleges in Canada, England and Ireland.”
Salic added that the bulk of the work setting up the fair comes from his staff members.
“While we work as a team, Margie Bond and Denise Mahoney pretty much run the show for this awesome event,” he said. Plus, the Parents Club provides a nice lunch for the reps, which always is greatly appreciated.”
All students who attended were briefed ahead of time and provided with short profiles of all attending colleges, according to Salic, in addition to a map of the floor plan, sample questions to ask the reps, and six pre-filled information cards to allow for more discussion time with the reps.
Colleges and universities represented at the fair included University College Dublin (Ireland); Ohio State University; the University of Windsor (Canada); United States Military Academy (West Point); the University of Notre Dame; Johns Hopkins University and University of East Anglia (England).
