More than 100 students in three different choirs from Notre Dame Prep will be competing today as part of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association District Festival, which will be held at Waterford Kettering High School.
The Women’s Chorus, the Band of Brothers and the Chamber Choir will each perform two classical selections before judges at the event. The student-vocalists also will attend clinics and be judged on their ability to sight-read music they have not seen before.
“Festival is a great experience for our students,” said Notre Dame Director of Choirs David Fazzini.
Last Sunday in an effort to prepare his vocalists for today’s competition, Fazzini said he surprised his chamber choir students at the concert by handing them unfamiliar music and having them demonstrate their sight-reading process to the audience.
