Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy announced today that Elizabeth Brisley and Fabian Fregoli have been named school trustees. According to school officials, the new trustees were approved by the board on August 16, 2017.
Daron Gifford, chair of the school’s Board of Trustees, said Brisley and Fregoli are great complements to an already robust group.
“Liz and Fabian represent so well the future of our great school,” Gifford said. “They are strong advocates of Notre Dame’s central mission and their impressive resumes will bring wonderfully diverse viewpoints to our board.”
Fr. Paul Frechette, s.m., who is provincial superior of the Society of Mary, U.S.A. Province, which sponsors Notre Dame’s Catholic identity and mission, also approved the two new trustees.
Brisley and her husband, Robert, have three children, one of whom graduated in 2014, and a current freshman and sophomore in the school’s upper division. She has been a tireless supporter and volunteer at Notre Dame for the past 10 years and has served as co-chair of the school’s annual fashion show, which raises funds to support the Parents Club. Outside of Notre Dame, she volunteers in various capacities for Humble Design, a nonprofit that helps families transition out of homeless shelters by providing furnishings and design services.
Currently a stay-at-home mother, Brisley has previously worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers as a compensation and HR consultant. She holds a BA degree in international relations from Michigan State University and an MBA from Wayne State University.
“I have seen many changes and improvements in the school over the years and I am happy to see the school is looking for still more ways to improve,” Brisley said. “I always try to be a good ambassador for the school and have been committed to serving and supporting Notre Dame whenever I have been asked. Now, as a trustee, I plan to bring this same level of goodwill and commitment and do whatever I can to help the school reach its defined goals.”
Fregoli and his wife, Loreta, who have three children currently attending Notre Dame, two in the upper division and one in the lower, have been strong supporters of the school for many years. Fabian, who also is an alumnus of Notre Dame, Class of 1989, has been serving for a number of years as treasurer of the Notre Dame Prep band board, a subcommittee of the Parents Club.
Fregoli currently works as vice president of quality and patient safety and chief medical informatics officer at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland/St. Joseph Mercy Health System, a member of Trinity Health. He earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at William Beaumont Hospital-Grosse Pointe where he also served as chief resident. He was in private practice until he joined St. Joseph Mercy Oakland in 2007. He also serves as a clinical assistant professor at Wayne State University’s School of Medicine and the Michigan State University School of Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine.
Fregoli said he is honored and grateful to be named as a trustee for the school and looks forward to serving Notre Dame in his new role.
“I appreciate and value ‘first-hand’ the Marist philosophy in education and development of the Christian student,” he said. “As an alum of Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods, I had the distinct advantage of having a Marist education and formation. I've always wanted the same opportunity and experience for my own children and now, with our three sons at NDPMA, they are building their futures through that same Notre Dame experience.”
