Noted Author and Alum Contributes to New Book on Detroit

binelli_mg_0822-wsNotre Dame High School graduate Mark Binelli ('88) wrote the foreword to a newly released book of photographs of Detroit taken in the late sixties. "Detroit 1968," a new book by Enrico Natali (Foggy Notion Books), is a collection of photos that shows Detroit at a time when the city still retained the reputation of being an American urban center of major influence and power.

The collection features black and white images taken by Natali during a three-year period from 1967 to 1970 and was originally published in 1972 with the more upbeat title, "New American People."

Binelli was featured in Notre Dame's "IRISH" magazine in the spring. His latest book, which received great critical reviews, is titled "Detroit City Is the Place to Be: The Afterlife of an American Metropolis" (Metropolitan Books). Now living in Manhattan, he has done numerous events and signings around the country since the book's release and most recently was in Ann Arbor at his alma mater, the University of Michigan, and at Madonna University for book events.
