Sophomores from Notre Dame Prep began their retreat this week in Detroit as they helped start an urban garden for Buckets of Rain, a Leelanau County, Mich.-based charity that installs and maintains urban gardens in Detroit, Flint and Guatemala. The vegetables grown in the Detroit gardens will benefit the Detroit Rescue Mission's homeless shelters and kitchens.
In addition to the Detroit Rescue Mission, Buckets of Rain benefits Cass Community Social Services and Urban Farming.org in Detroit.
