NDP Junior Irish Dancer Performs With Irish-American Super Group

Notre Dame junior Emily Ridge, an Irish dancer out of Birmingham, Michigan-based Flanagan-O’Hare School of Irish Dance, performed with fellow dancers yesterday in Florida at a special concert by the award-winning Irish-American group, Cherish the Ladies.

The concert was held at Saint Elizabeth Seton in Naples, Florida, and Ridge, along with other members of Flanagan-O'Hare, performed traditional Irish step dancing.

Cherish the Ladies, an all-female group of musicians, has attained numerous awards and achievements, including being named Best Musical Group of the Year by the BBC, Top North American Celtic Group at the Irish Music Awards, and Entertainment Group of the Year by the Irish Voice Newspaper. In addition, they were voted Top North American Celtic act by NPR Radio's "Thistle and Shamrock" program.

Ridge (additional photo) has been dancing with Flanagan-O'Hare for 13 years. She currently is dancing at the highest level of competitive Irish dance, "open champion."
