Graduating senior Brittany Johnson was chosen to sing the national anthem before the 10 a.m. Catholic League C-D division final baseball game Thursday at Comerica Park. The game will feature the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame Prep vs. Bishop Foley.
Johnson is a four-year member of the NDP choir, sings lead in the NDP Jazz Band and in February earned a "superior" rating at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association's district solo and ensemble festival.
In July of 2013, Johnson was picked to be a cantor at World Youth Day for young adults held at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit. She is a member of the Archdiocese of Detroit choir and as its youngest member, she was asked to cantor for Holy Hour with Bishop Donald Hanchon and for mass with Archbishop Allen Vigneron.
She will attend MSU in the fall and sing in the Spartan choir.
