Irish Week 2014 Kicks Off at Notre Dame

The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame Preparatory and Marist Academy in Pontiac are once again jumping into "Irish Week," which begins in the school tomorrow as a week-long celebration of the school's Irish heritage/nickname. The tradition began years ago at Harper Woods Notre Dame, a school managed by the Boston-based (naturally!) Marist Fathers and Brothers who currently operate NDPMA in Pontiac.

Irish Week includes special activities, liturgies, hall decorations and concludes with Thursday-Friday athletic-and-skills competitions between classes called the Irish Games, which pit class against class in a series of games ranging from Balloon Stomp to Plunger Relay.

Last year, the senior class earned the highest score of the high school games, followed by the freshmen, juniors and sophomores. At the school's middle and lower divisions, students participate in their own version of the Irish Games.

Go Irish!
