Notre Dame senior Nick Wasik is looking forward to ending his high school career. But it’s not because he doesn't like being at Notre Dame Prep. On the contrary, Wasik says he is very happy at NDP and can’t think of himself at any other high school. Period.
He says he’s looking forward to the end of high school in May because he can’t wait to take his academics to the next level. He'll have no fears, he says, since by next spring if not before, he believes NDP will have completely prepared him for college.
Wasik, who also serves as one of Notre Dame’s student ambassadors, recently answered a few questions posed to him by the school’s admissions department. Actually, they weren’t really questions—Wasik simply finished a number of sentences initiated by admissions…
I came to Notre Dame because…
“…I am a very driven person who wanted and still wants to succeed. I thought that Notre Dame could assist me in that. Having gone to Notre Dame Marist, it seemed that Notre Dame was the next step. ND Marist gave me a taste of the school’s atmosphere, and after I experienced the environment of Notre Dame, there is no way I could go to any other school.”
I didn’t realize it at first, but I came to learn that Notre Dame…
“…is a school that can cater to the interests of any person through the classes and the extracurricular activities it offers."
Notre Dame is different from other schools because…
“…everyone here pushes you to succeed. There is almost no way you can fail at Notre Dame because so many people are here to help you.”
I would use these three words to describe my academic experience at Notre Dame so far:
“…successful, interesting, mind-opening.”
The best/most interesting class I’ve taken at Notre Dame is…
“…AP Government with Ms. Newby. I am enjoying this class because the material is very interesting and relevant.”
The most fun experience I’ve had so far at Notre Dame is…
“…Irish Week. Irish Week is such a fun and exciting time. It really helps your whole class come together for a common goal.”
I am able to balance schoolwork, sports, clubs and activities at Notre Dame because…
“…I stay focused. Also, teachers are very considerate when giving homework and scheduling tests. They really try to reduce stress.”
The teachers at Notre Dame are…
“…helpful.”
The students at Notre Dame are…
“…nice.”
The opportunities at Notre Dame are…
“…endless.”
Notre Dame has been a great fit for me because…
“…it pushed me out of my learning comfort zone and taught me new ways of thinking.”
Notre Dame has helped me become a Christian person through…
“…providing a Christian atmosphere that has influenced me tremendously on a daily basis.”
Notre Dame has helped me become an upright citizen through…
“…watching the example of our teachers. They are great role models and great people.”
Notre Dame has helped me become an academic scholar through…
“…challenging me and pushing me to become a better learner and to be open to learning in different ways.”
I know when I graduate from Notre Dame I will leave feeling…
“…completely ready for college. Notre Dame gives its students all the skills needed to be a successful college student.”
