Former NBA and University of Michigan basketball player Tim McCormick visited with Notre Dame Prep's leadership class this morning and told the students to "step up and be a powerful presence in school."
McCormick, currently a broadcast analyst with ESPN and an alumni parent (Kellen '12 and Danielle '14), spoke to the class, which is primarily a web-based online course in the school's health and physical education department. Students meet classroom-style two to three times per month, primarily on late-start days, early dismissals and/or during lunch periods and guest speakers sometimes are brought in to talk about leadership in athletics.
Notre Dame students taking the course are provided with a multitude of tools to independently and, in some cases, cooperatively, research, analyze, create and problem-solve the many different facets of leadership.
According to school administration, the ultimate purpose of the course is to help current and future team captains fulfill their rolls effectively and ultimately lead their teams to "seasons of significance."
