In a ceremony held this past summer, Fr. Ted Keating, s.m., who served as provincial of the Society of Mary in the U.S. until June 2015, was given special recognition by the Conference of Major Superiors of Men (CMSM), an association of the leadership of men in religious and apostolic institutes in the United States.
According to the CMSM, he was honored for his long-term service to the conference after completing his term as a major superior to the Marists.
Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy is sponsored by the Marist Fathers and Brothers.
Keating, who now serves the U.S. Marist province in a formation capacity, has been involved longer than any other member of CMSM, at least 24 years, having served as justice and peace director for seven years, as executive director for six years, as a member of the formation committee, and as a major superior of two Marist provinces, first of Atlanta, and then when he became the major superior of the USA Marist province.
Keating received a framed print from the CMSM that depicted an illumination from the Saint John's Bible and was entitled "To the Ends of the Earth.“ The gift's dedication read “Presented to Ted Keating, s.m., in gratitude for your many years of energetic leadership, tireless service and constant support of the CMSM. Thank you!”
