Bumble Bees take robotics to Flint Township

bumble_bees_stem_1_815pxYesterday, while most Notre Dame students were experiencing a day off from school, a group of 6th-grade robotics aficionados were demonstrating their craft at Genesee STEM Academy, a charter school in Flint Township.

According to Louise Palardy, a parent and mentor for the group, one of the Bumble Bees robotics teams spent a great deal of time telling the students what it is like to part of a robotics team and describing how a competition is set-up.

Sixth-graders Aaron Palardy, Joe Lasota, Will Schmidt and Jackson Plas met with about 150 students in grades 3-8 at Genesee STEM and had students there drive the robots and get into a design and build session with VEX IQ supplies.

“The kids also were able to ask our team some questions,” said Palardy. "The STEM Academy students enjoyed the event, and so did the Bumble Bees!”
