Movie with Notre Dame 8th grader in cast premieres tonight

Julian Lee, an eighth grader in Notre Dame’s middle school, makes his silver screen debut tonight as “Golden Shoes,” a movie starring Eric Roberts, Dina Meyer and Vivica A. Fox, premiers in a special red carpet event held tonight at Emagine Theater in Novi.

movie-poster-350pxIn the movie, which features Christian Koza (Fractured) as a young boy who overcomes numerous obstacles to achieve his dream of becoming a great soccer player, Lee is cast as one of a number of soccer players who play with Koza. The movie was filmed in Michigan three years ago.

No stranger to a soccer field, Lee spent part of this past summer in Greece representing the United States in the 2015 Mytikas Cup International Soccer Tournament. He’s been playing soccer for more than eight years and has most recently played for Vardar U-13 Boys Premier. He also is one of only 18 13-year-olds in the state of Michigan to be selected to be part of the Coerver Soccer Performance Academy, a global soccer coaching program inspired by the teachings of Wiel Coerver and created in 1984 by Alfred Galustian and Chelsea great, Charlie Cooke. 

“Golden Shoes” also stars also stars David DeLuise ("The Wizards of Waverly Place"), talk show host Montel Williams, Aedin Mincks ("A.N.T. Farm") and John Rhys-Davies (The Lord of the Rings franchise, Raiders of the Lost Ark).

Julian’s sister, Jordyn, and his mother and father, Kim and Patrick, also show up in the film as extras.
