Notre Dame Middle Division Goes Green

6535Notre Dame has announced that its middle division has earned designation as an official Michigan Green School, Emerald Level (15 + points) for the 2013-2014 school year. Middle-division counselor Kim Smith, who also is mentor for the division's E-club, said that although the club is relatively small, "they are all very hard-working students!"

Some of the E-club activities, Smith said, included bake sales, school-wide bottle/glass/paper recycling, Nike Reuse-A-Shoe recycle program and a printer-cartridge recycle programs. "In addition, a school-wide community read day took place this year that included reading the book, 'Seed Folks,' and the kids collected also food for Gleaners," she said. "And this month, the E-club is planting spicebushes for our monarch butterfly waystation garden."

Special thanks to faculty members Marna Nemon, Cathy Moras and Ginny Pauwels for their continued support and help for the Environmental Club.
