More than 300 grandparents and special persons were on the Notre Dame campus today to celebrate the school’s annual “Grandparents Day.”
After a morning Mass, which was celebrated in the main gymnasium by Head of School Fr. Leon Olszamowski, s.m., the special visitors were treated to a catered lunch in Notre Dame’s Jim Grimaldi Athletic Center.
Those in attendance included grandparents and special persons of students in Notre Dame’s lower division (jr.K – 5th grade), 6th graders from the middle division, and 9th graders from the upper division.
Of particular note was the fact that for the first time on a Grandparents Day at Notre Dame, the liturgy choir from the upper division sang at their Mass. The choir today also included a number of recent graduates from the Class of 2015 who came back to the school to participate in the special celebration.
According to Beth Campbell, Notre Dame’s director of alumni relations, who organized the event, grandparents also were given professional portraits of themselves with their grandchildren as personal keepsakes of the day.
