Notre Dame Prep and its boys basketball program provide the backdrop for a recently released video produced by Central Michigan University to promote its high-profile alumni.
The video is available below.
A film crew from CBS Detroit was on the Notre Dame campus in June to record an interview with NDP head boys basketball coach Whitney Robinson.
Robinson graduated from Notre Dame in Harper Woods in 1998 and went on to Central where he played basketball for the Chippewas before graduating in 2003. ND Prep hired Robinson in 2012 to head their basketball program.
During the interview, he said getting the basketball job at NDP was a dream come true. Coming from the environment at Notre Dame in Harper Woods to Notre Dame in Pontiac, he said, "was completely seamless."
"I love what I'm doing here and truly appreciate the opportunity to instill the same values and work ethic I learned at Notre Dame in these young men here in Pontiac," he said.
After CMU, Robinson played professional basketball in Europe, Israel and Iceland and was involved with Athletes in Action, where he played and served as a mission worker in France, Beijing, Toronto and Cairo. His college-playing experience included CMU, where made the MAC All-Academic Team and earned Sixth Man and Defensive player of the year honors. He held CMU's steals leadership during the 2001-01 season and scored over 1,300 career points with the Chips.
