Beth Campbell, left, won a state championship at Notre Dame Prep for competitive cheer in March 2014. Betty Wroubel, right, earned a state championship in volleyball in November of 2013. They both picked up coach of the year honors on today from the Michigan High School Coaches Association.
Two Notre Dame coaches were honored today as the Michigan High School Coaches Association gave "coach of the year" awards to Irish competitive cheer coach Beth Campbell and volleyball coach Betty Wroubel.
Campbell and Wroubel were honored at the 56th Annual MHSCA Coach of the Year Banquet at the Lansing Ramada Inn Hotel and Conference Center. Both coaches led their teams to state championships in the last school year.
During the program today, one coach was honored for each sport association that is a member of the MHSCA. "This is really quite an honor for a school and a coach," MHSCA said. "As only one coach is chosen for each sport from the whole state of Michigan, it is quite an honor to win this award."
The Michigan High School Coaches Association was founded on the campus of Central Michigan University in 1954.
