Notre Dame Hosts Another Turkey Trot Meet-Up

7190

More than 100 people from the Notre Dame community participated in this year's Turkey Trot held in Detroit.

More than 100 Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy students, alumni, faculty and friends supported The Parade Company yesterday by running in the 32nd annual Thanksgiving Day 10K Turkey Trot, 5K Stuffing Strut, 15K Drumstick Double or Mashed Potato Mile.

The race, which typically is the largest running race in the state of Michigan, drew more than 19,000 participants this year.

Many of the Notre Dame's "trotters" took one of its buses from the Pontiac campus and met up with other members of the community at 7 a.m. for a large, group photo near the statue of Joe Louis in the lobby of Cobo Center. Some of the participants received a commemorative Notre Dame "Go Irish" Turkey Trot button.

In total, the ND runners contributed more than $5,000 to The Parade Company, Special Olympics Michigan and Gleaners Food Bank as a result of their participation in the event.
