The Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association’s 12th annual District IV High School Honors Band & Jazz Band festival was held this past weekend at Clarkston High School.
Six members of Notre Dame Prep’s band participated in the event, which is a recognition of outstanding musicians in high schools from all over district IV.
The festival saw more than 200 students from 21 schools participate as part of symphonic, concert, or jazz bands. The participating students received outstanding instruction from directors, Dr. Cormac Cannon (MSU), Dr. Gregory Cunningham (OU) and Dr. Scott Cowan (WMU).
“This is a great way of building bridges between our schools and band programs,” Joe Martin, NDP’s band director said. “Students get to meet and make music with fine students from other schools and perform quality repertoire under the direction of outstanding conductors. The concert was another outstanding performance by our own talented high school musicians. Congratulations to them all!”
