NDP juniors Elizabeth Brouns, Joseph Joppich and Mariana Ortiz Luna were honored for academics last weekend at Ford Field by the Catholic High School League as members of the Scholastic All Catholic Team. The juniors were chosen because they were among the top of their class.
“We are very proud to announce that the three of you have been named members of the Archdiocese of Detroit’s Scholastic All Catholic Team,” said Vic Michaels, director of the CHSL. “This is a great opportunity for the Catholic League to recognize your outstanding scholastic achievement.”
Also honored as part of the Scholastic All Catholic Team were NDP students Amelia Cumming (Class of ’20), Justina Gaynor (’20), Allison Healy (’20), Amanda Krick (’20), Evan Wells (’20), Elizabeth Brouns (’19), Aaron Crane (’19), Evaristo Garcia-Reyna (’19), Joseph Joppich (’19), Natalie Lyijynen (’19), Alena Manzor (’19), Mariana Ortiz Luna (’19), Christopher VanDieren (’19), Mitchell Ballew (’18), Gretel Keller (’18) and Yilun Zhou (’18).
The director of evangelization, catechesis and schools for the AOD, Fr. Stephen Pullis, and the interim superintendent of Catholic schools, Ms. Melissa Lipsmeier, presented the three juniors from Notre Dame with a medallion at halftime of the C-D CHSL championship game.
“Your accomplishments in the classroom are worthy of much recognition,” Michaels added. “We are pleased to be able to honor you and the other Scholastic All Catholic Team members at Prep Bowl XLV.”
