Marists Participate in Fe y Vida Institute (Texas)

Instituto Fe y Vida is a national non-profit Catholic leadership institute widely recognized as the authority in the field of Hispanic youth and young-adult ministry in the United States. It is the leading agent in bringing the Bible to young Latinos throughout the Americas. The Marist Fathers and Brothers have been part of Fe y Vida since 2005. They also have served as members of Fe y Vida's board during that time.

Fe y Vida held their annual national summer institute from June 30-July 6, 2013, at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Participants numbering 172, including Hispanic young adults and team members from 39 dioceses in the U.S. and three Latin American countries, came together for another wonderful national summer program.

Fathers John Bolduc, s.m., and Paul Frechette, s.m., were on hand and participated in a new track entitled "Mission Formation," which was sponsored by the Maryknoll Fathers and Fe y Vida. Forty participated in this program, with 20 young adult Hispanics and 20 adults working in Hispanic ministries in the United States.

"We looked at many Bible references and different Mission documents of the Church, especially Aparecida, Brazil, 2007," Frechette said. "This document calls us to be better disciples and missionaries for the Lord. We contemplated how we can do this, in our own context in the USA 2013, and in our different roles."
