The NDP men's and women’s cross-country teams participated in the Nike-Holly Invitational at Springfield Oaks County Park on Saturday. In all, 20 high schools participated at the Division II level. Outstanding conditions helped many NDP runners achieve season best and or personal best times.
The women’s team secured a trophy by placing fourth in the Division II race. Leading the way for the Irish was junior Lauren McGrath (20:01) who had an overall fifth-place finish and a career best time. Other top performers for the Irish were junior Christine Sheer (21:25), junior Hunter Williams (21:40), sophomore Ellie Wallace (21:45) and senior Haley Hershey (21:55).
The men’s cross country team placed 12th at the event. Freshman Brendan Fraser (17:37) led all Irish runners followed by junior Josh Fullerton (18:21), sophomore Carter Slunick (18:37), sophomore Aidan Shurig (18:50) and senior Jere Neill (19:19). Many of the runners achieved season best and\or personal best times.
“I was very pleased by the team’s performance today," Notre Dame coach Anthony Kulick said. "Many of our athletes ran their best times of the season or their career. I’m extremely proud of these runners!”
