Notre Dame alum gets top CPA award

AICPA 'Standing Ovation' honors Scott Lockhart ’98 (NDP) from Oxdale Ventures as a Top Young CPA in Forensic and Valuation Service; achievement recognized at AICPA’s Forensic and Valuation Services conference.

The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) Standing Ovation program has recognized 1998 Notre Dame alum Scott Lockhart as one of 25 CPAs age 40 and under to be honored for their contributions to the areas of forensic accounting and business valuation. Lockhart, who also serves along with the other talented young Standing Ovation CPAs from across the country, was honored at the AICPA's 2016 Forensic & Valuation Services (FVS) Conference in Nashville in November.

The Standing Ovation program recognizes young CPAs who exhibit outstanding professional achievement in specialization areas, such as forensic accounting and business valuation. Requirements for nomination to the Standing Ovation program for the FVS specialty area include maintaining an active CPA license, being an AICPA member in good standing, and holding either a Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) or Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) specialty credential. Nominees must be 40 years old or younger.

“Scott was honored this year for having demonstrated significant accomplishments in the areas of forensic accounting and business valuation,” said Jeannette Koger, CPA, CGMA, AICPA's vice president of member specialization and credentialing. “The AICPA’s Standing Ovation program was developed to identify those CPAs who are rising stars in the accounting profession, particularly in their area of specialization.”

In addition to business valuation and forensic accounting represented by the FVS Section, the Standing Ovation program recognizes young CPAs who exhibit exemplary professional achievement in personal financial planning and information management and technology assurance. The nomination period for personal financial planning and information management and technology assurance are currently open.
