The Local Media Association, a Traverse City-based professional trade association serving the suburban and community newspaper industry, has given its digital innovator of the year award to Notre Dame Prep alum and Oakland Press journalist Monica Drake.
Drake, who graduated from Notre Dame in 2006, has been with The Oakland Press since 2010 and is the community engagement editor, focusing on social media. In this position she leads efforts to share stories with readers on social media, including Facebook and Twitter, and she also seeks feedback, story ideas, tips and photographs from readers.
