Yearbook staff honored for third year in a row

Notre Dame Prep yearbook gets national honor for third year in a row.

Notre Dame Preparatory School announced this week that it has received the Jostens National Yearbook Program of Excellence award for the school's 2016 edition of "The Legend.” It’s the third year in a row for the school, which shares such honors this year with only 19 other schools in Michigan.

Jostens, the leading producer of yearbooks and student-created content, recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st-century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies (ICT) literacy.

“Schools that continually strive to create a great yearbook for their students deserve to be recognized,” Jostens said. “We understand that a great yearbook program doesn't just happen.

According to Jostens, the award was created to recognize those who excel in the creation and distribution of their yearbook, and meet the following criteria:

A meaningful book for all students: A book that means something to all students and includes a vast majority of the student body.

A book in every student's hands: Schools put so much time, effort and love into their yearbook. We want to help ensure that as many students as possible get to enjoy the masterpiece that's created.

Effective project management: Meeting the yearbook deadlines is a very important part of the yearbook creation process, and ensures the delivery of books on time.

Notre Dame Prep also received notice from Jostens that it received recognition as a 2016 "Most Inclusive School in America" for the yearbook staff’s extensive coverage of the student body.

NDP’s yearbook moderator Kyle Lilek said the students who work on the yearbook are totally dedicated to its creation and production.

“I credit the entire yearbook staff from this year and last, but especially the four editors: Allison Kot and Dominic Maniaci from last year, and current editors, Maddie McClune and Jacob Mancinotti,” he said.
