Notre Dame alum plays the Colin House

Notre Dame alum and recording artist Danny Santos stopped by the Notre Dame Alumni Association office this August and performed four songs for a small group gathered in the main room of the Fr. Colin House, which is located on the school’s campus.

Santos’ performance is another in the alumni association's recorded "Colin House Concerts Series," in which Notre Dame students and alumni are invited to play in an intimate setting on the school's Pontiac campus. Video of his performance is available below.

Now living full time in Los Angeles, Santos, a 2011 graduate of Notre Dame, has been working on his debut album, which is scheduled for release early next year.

The album is titled "The Prophet" and was recorded in a studio called Bedrock LA in Echo Park, Los Angeles, last month. Santos said he’s got one more track to record and some tweaks to what’s already “in the can” before the album is finalized.

“All that's left to do is record "Scared of Love," re-record final vocal tracks for everything, mixing, and mastering, then creating physical CDs and copyrighting my work,” he said. “In the studio, we worked with a producer named Robert Margouleff, who won a Grammy for his work on Stevie Wonder's album ‘Innervisions.’”

He said the album consists of 13 original songs, and the songs he played for the Colin House set (Chimera, Blue Dahlia, Scared of Love and Eucalyptus Woman) will be on the album.

“As of now, I don't have the album art yet, but have plans of taking photos for it around Halloween,” he added. “Also, my major influences for the record and for much of what I do have been Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Florence + The Machine and Regina Spektor.”
