Alum talks about the long road to Hollywood

cendrowski-UM2-WSNotre Dame alum Mark Cendrowski ('77) directs the mammoth hit TV comedy The Big Bang Theory. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and each year he gets back to Ann Arbor from L.A. to conduct various workshops for students in U-M's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.

In a video interview (below) produced by Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts and conducted during one of his Ann Arbor visits, Cendrowski talks about his time in high school and college, and the long road he traveled to get to his dream job in Hollywood.

In addition to The Big Bang Theory, Cendrowski has worked on a number of other series, including episodes of Yes, Dear, Still Standing, According to Jim, and Rules of Engagement.

In an interview a couple of years ago with Notre Dame's alumni magazine Irish, Cendrowski discussed his U-M workshops:

“I will talk with students in the advanced-writing programs as well as beginning directing classes and do a hands-on workshop in the school studios," he said. "I’ll stage a few scenes from current shows I’m working on. We use all student actors, crew and writers and when I’m finished they have a product that they can then edit and use for future classes. It’s a lot of fun and it gives students a glimpse of what a typical work week is like for someone like me.”
