Tuition and Financial Aid

Catholic education is an investment.

Catholic education is an investment for every one of our families. At Notre Dame, we often hear from parents of alumni how well prepared their sons and daughters were for college, and they tell us about the exceptional value they received compared to other schools. The Board of Trustees and the administration are committed to sound fiscal management so that we maintain that standard of excellence and, at the same time, set the cost of tuition reasonably and with great care each year.

The Board of Trustees announces tuition for the following school year in mid-January.

Financial Aid

We aspire to provide every family the opportunity to attend Notre Dame regardless of their ability to afford it. While we cannot meet every family’s demonstrated financial need, we are proud to award 700 scholarships and grants for academic merit and financial need totaling $1.5 million on average each year. The Financial Aid Committee follows best practices from around the country to ensure we are maximizing the impact of available funds.

Alumni and friends contribute to our financial aid program through annual and endowed gifts.

Contact the Office of Enrollment Management for a list of available scholarships and grants.

Financial Aid Awards
In most cases, financial aid awards are posted to student accounts on September 1. Because of the limited nature of NDPMA’s financial aid budget, the typical financial aid award for a student ranges from $1,000 to $5,000. While larger amounts–as much as half tuition–are awarded, these are reserved for students with significant need and great academic promise.

Beginning with the NDP Class of 2020, Notre Dame offers the following academic merit scholarships to qualified students. These scholarships are eligible only to students who take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) in November or December of the 8th grade year. Students need not apply for these awards.
An incoming freshman who earns a score from 85 to 89 on the HSPT automatically will earn a freshman-year scholarship valued at 10 percent of the cost of tuition.
An incoming freshman who earns a score of 90 to 94 on the HSPT automatically will earn a freshman-year scholarship valued at 15 percent of the cost of tuition. The student will have the opportunity to renew* the scholarship at 10 percent of tuition for the sophomore, junior and senior years.
An incoming freshman who earns a score from 95 to 99 automatically will earn a freshman-year scholarship valued at 15 percent of the cost of tuition. The student will have the opportunity to renew* the scholarship at 15 percent of tuition for the sophomore, junior and senior years.
Claude Colin, the Founder’s Award is given to a very select few incoming freshmen each year. Founder’s Award candidates are evaluated based upon the following criteria:

· The student is in Grade 8 at a Catholic school or Walton Charter Academy.
· The student has earned a composite score at or above the 95th percentile on the HSPT.
· The student has completed the admission process for Notre Dame Prep before Jan. 17, 2020.
· The student has an exceptional academic history, as well as a record of service, citizenship and leadership in his/her school, community, and/or parish.

The Founder’s Award is valued at 33 percent of the cost of tuition for the freshman year. A renewed* award would be valued at 25 percent of the cost of tuition for the sophomore, junior and senior years.

* Requirements for Lyon, Marist and Founder’s Award Scholarship Renewal:
In order for a student to renew a Lyon, Marist or Founder’s Award scholarship, he/she must post a 3.85 cumulative grade point average by the end of the school year. (If a student’s GPA falls below the standard, the scholarship will not renew and no longer will be available to the student.) Founder’s Award scholarship recipients also must write an annual reflection about their development as Christians, citizens and scholars inspired by the Marist charism.
Notre Dame Preparatory School awards performance-based fine and performing arts scholarships for the freshman year. The band and choir scholarships of up to $1,000 are based on electronic submissions of instrumental or vocal performances to the band or choir directors. The visual arts scholarships of up to $1,000 are based on electronic submissions of artwork judged by the visual arts department. Art submissions and auditions are due on an appointed date in March each school year.
Students entering grades 9 through 12 may qualify for a diversity scholarship for the first year of attendance at NDP. The diversity scholarship is based on student responses to the diversity statement in the Supplemental Application for admission.

Note: An incoming freshman student may not earn more than one academic merit, arts or diversity scholarship.

Note: Merit-based and diversity scholarship awards for NDP applicants will be included in the student acceptance letter. Fine and performing arts scholarship recipients will be notified via e-mail prior to course selection events. Scholars Day winners will be notified via e-mail the week after the event. All scholarship awards are posted to student accounts on September 1.
