The NDP Killer Bees put together a great weekend of robotics match play and on Saturday, they earned the state championship of the (FIRST) For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology competition held at Eastern Michigan University. It's the second time in four years (2011) that the Bees earned the state championship.
The robots, which are entirely student-built, compete in a contest called Aerial Assist, which is played by two competing alliances of three robots each. The objective is to score as many large exercise-type balls in goals as possible during a two-and-a-half minute match.
Besting nearly 200 other teams, the state-champion alliance of students from ND Prep's team 33 and teams 314 and 27 earned a trip to the world finals beginning April 23 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Congratulations, Team 33 Killer Bees!
